Sarah Elizabeth "Sally" Miller, beloved sister, wife, mother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2024, at the age of 46, in Chicago, Illinois, after a brave battle with cancer. Born on April 5, 1978, in Chicago to John and Linda Miller, Sally was our little sister—our partner in crime, our shoulder to cry on, and the light of every family gathering.

Sally graduated from Northwestern University in 2000 with a degree in nursing, and dedicated her career to caring for children at Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago. She was a compassionate nurse, loved by her patients and colleagues alike—she had a gift for making scared kids feel safe, and for making even the hardest days a little brighter.

In 2005, Sally married her soulmate, Tom, and together they raised two beautiful children: Lily (15) and Ethan (12). She was a devoted wife and mother, who loved baking cookies with her kids, reading bedtime stories, and taking family trips to the beach every summer. As a sister, Sally was always there—she celebrated our wins, comforted us in our losses, and never let us forget how much we were loved.

Sally loved painting, gardening, and volunteering at her kids’ school. She was a member of the Chicago Junior League, a dedicated animal lover (she rescued three dogs and two cats), and a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs. She was known for her contagious laughter, her kind heart, and her ability to make everyone feel like family.

Sally was preceded in death by her father, John Miller. She is survived by her husband Tom; her children Lily and Ethan; her mother Linda Miller; her siblings Jennifer (Mark) Davis and Michael (Lisa) Miller; her grandmother Margaret Smith; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

A celebration of Sally’s life will be held on April 17, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Lurie Children’s Hospital Chapel, 225 E Chicago Ave, Chicago, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lurie Children’s Hospital in Sally’s honor—she would have wanted nothing more than to help the kids she loved so much.

Sally’s love, her kindness, and her laughter will be missed by everyone who knew her. She was more than a sister—she was our heart, and we will carry her memory with us always.

Emma Grace Thompson

Emma Grace Thompson, 23, of Austin, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on February 5, 2024. Born in Austin to David and Susan Thompson, Emma was a beloved sister to Jacob and Olivia, a loving daughter, and a cherished friend to many.

Emma was a senior at the University of Texas at Austin, studying elementary education—she dreamed of becoming a teacher and making a difference in kids’ lives. She loved hiking, painting, and spending time with her friends and family. She was known for her bright smile, her kind heart, and her passion for helping others.

Emma is survived by her parents David and Susan, her siblings Jacob and Olivia, her grandparents, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. A memorial service will be held on February 12, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Austin Community Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Texas Education Agency’s Teacher Scholarship Fund.

Margaret "Marge" Lee Davis
November 3, 1935 – January 15, 2024
Miami, Florida

Margaret "Marge" Lee Davis—our big sister, our role model, and the queen of Sunday dinners—left this world on January 15, 2024, at the age of 88, surrounded by her family. Born in Miami to George and Helen Lee, Marge was the oldest of five, and she took care of all of us—teaching us to cook, to love, and to never give up.

Marge worked as a seamstress for over 50 years, creating beautiful dresses and teaching her craft to anyone who wanted to learn. She was a pillar of strength for our family—she helped raise us, supported us through every challenge, and celebrated every milestone with us. Marge loved cooking, especially her famous Sunday dinners that brought the whole family together.

Marge is survived by her siblings: Robert (Mary) Davis, Patricia (James) Wilson, and William (Susan) Davis; her children from her first marriage; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and countless nieces, nephews, and friends who loved her dearly.

A celebration of Marge's life will be held on January 22, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Miami Community Center. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Miami Food Bank, a cause close to Marge's heart.

Marge, you were our rock, our guide, and our biggest supporter. We will miss your wisdom, your laughter, and your love. Rest in peace, big sister.
